Separately cast patinated spelter figures with hand-mirror, urn and torch cast in bronze, set upon a black slate marble base with beaded ormolu mounts and installed on an ebony cabinet with fluted side-columns.
Technically advanced, it is uniquely cast in both zinc and bronze:
Zinc for the figures and bronze for the attributes.
Zinc, commonly known as spelter, was considered to be the marvel material of the mid nineteenth century.
The sculptor of this piece has ingeniously created an animated conversation group of two figures meddled in the round mounted on a smart pedestal and cabinet as a highly decorative ensemble.
This is an outstanding piece that stood in Duntryleague House in Orange NSW for many years.
